Zabbia, Pugh head to Nov. 16 run-off for Ponchatoula Mayor
In Ponchatoula, incumbent Mayor Bob Zabbia leads with 42 percent of the vote but will face Steve Pugh in a Nov. 16 run-off. Pugh garnered 39 percent of the vote. Bub Tucker finished 3rd with 14 percent of the vote.
Ponchatoula Police Chief Bry Layrisson wins re-election with 81 percent of the vote over his challenger tonight.
Incumbent City Council members Roslind Batiste, Jeff Daniels, and Melvin Toomer were re-elected Saturday; however, longtime Councilman Braville LeBlanc was defeated by newcomer Melissa Gueldner.
They join Vergil Sandifer, who was re-elected without opposition to another term on the board. The new council takes their oath of office on July 1, 2020.
