Woman facing charges after fleeing officer in store Friday
PONCHATOULA---An Oklahoma woman is facing charges after she allegedly fled from an officer inside the Ponchatoula Walmart on Friday afternoon.

Ponchatoula Police Chief Bry Layrisson says charges are forthcoming for Desiree Musachia, 29, of Oklahoma, after she fled from a Ponchatoula Police officer who confronted the woman inside the store.

Layrisson reported Friday:

"An undercover Ponchatoula Police Detective observed a female inside of the Ponchatoula Walmart using narcotics and confronted her about the situation. It was made aware that she also has an active warrant out of Livingston Parish for resisting an officer. At this time, she began to struggle with the officer and then ran away into the Subway located inside Walmart. The female then pulled a knife and began to harm herself and threaten the officer. At this time, the undercover officer drew his duty weapon. With the assistance of Hammond Police Department, the female was tased and taken into custody. Officers also removed the knife from her possession. The female was transported to North Oaks Medical Center for treatment to her self-inflicted injuries. Charges are forthcoming.”

Layrisson went on to reassure the public that the store is safe and that contrary to rumors, no shots were fired.
