UPDATE: As of 10:07 p.m. Monday, Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Deputies say suspect Joshua Hearld has been recaptured. Details on his apprehension will be released Tuesday.

Original Release:

AMITE—The search continues for a 32-year-old Tangipahoa Parish Jail inmate who escaped from a work release program in Convent the day after Christmas.

Joshua Hearld, 32, of Antioch Boulevard in Baton Rouge, was reported missing from a work-release site where he worked for a tugboat company in Convent on Friday.

Published reports indicate the escapee has a history of violent offenses.

He was reportedly serving an aggravated battery sentence handed down from the 19th Judicial District Court. He has been incarcerated at the Tangipahoa Parish Jail and joined the TPSO work-release program last year.

TPSO, the Louisiana Department of Corrections, and various other agencies are working together to apprehend the suspect, officials said Monday afternoon.
