Construction of LA 22 turn lane in Bedico begins this week
BEDICO—Construction of a turning lane on LA 22 eastbound between the Tangipahoa and St. Tammany Parish lines begins this week.

On Wednesday, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced that intermittent and alternating lane closures are planned on LA 22 between E. Sam Arnold Loop and Mitcham Road starting Sunday, Nov. 11, and continuing through Jan. 11 for construction of a center turn lane.

The project includes drainage work, concrete patching, asphalt patching, and asphalt paving operations.

Lane closures are scheduled weekdays from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. and nightly from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. On the weekends, lane closures can be expected between 6 p.m. Fridays and 7 a.m. on Mondays.

Traffic will be maintained through the work zone at all times. Oversize loads (those greater than 12 feet wide) will not be allowed through the construction zone during work hours.

This project is estimated to cost approximately $521,231.42, according to a press release from DOTD posted in late June.

Sam Arnold Loop is located on the south side of LA 22 just west Bedico Trace subdivision on the Tangipahoa/St. Tammany Parish line. Mitcham Road is also on the south side of LA 22 and located just east of the St. Tammany Parish line.
