TPSO investigating suspicious vehicle complaints

One report alleges occupant tried to make contact with child

From the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office:

PONCHATOULA, LA - April 16, 2019 -  The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Edwards reports that the TPSO is currently investigating several suspicious vehicle complaints in the Ponchatoula area.  In one of the cases the complainant alleges that an occupant of the vehicle attempted to make verbal contact with a juvenile.

At this time, deputies and detectives are in Ponchatoula actively patrolling and canvasing the area.  Due to several inconsistencies between the reported incidents and conflicting information, such as suspect description and vehicle information, we are asking the public to remain vigilant as it relates to supervising children, especially when playing outside and walking to and from bus stops.  Remind them to be wary of strangers and never approach a suspicious vehicle or get into a car with a stranger.

These investigations remain active and we will notify the public of any updates as they become available.

To report suspicious activity, contact you local law enforcement agency, the TPSO at 985-345-6150, or simply dial 9-1-1.   To anonymously report ca tip or information regarding a crime contact Crime Stoppers at 800.5554.5245.
