Tickfaw's Chief DiBenedetto shares new vision, new beginning

A rocker in his youth, lifelong villager of Tickfaw, Frank DiBendetto, has traded his “longhair look” for a shaved head and starched uniform in its place.

DiBenedetto has been coined a fresh face and “new beginning” for the Village of Tickfaw as Chief of Police, filling the shoes of longtime Chief Jimmy Sparacello who had served the village prior for over 30 years.

During Monday evening’s inauguration at Tickfaw Village Hall, Chief DiBenedetto said there was once a time he could’ve been in front of a microphone and known exactly what to say.

Today however, responsibilities as Police Chief require far more commitment than the bliss of youth, which is what DiBenedetto vowed to do.

“It is an honor for me to be Chief of Police for the Village of Tickfaw” DiBenedetto said to the crowd. “It is an honor to be a part of this new beginning.”

Lighthearted moments during the ceremony included his wife, Cindy, son Adam and Nick DiBenedetto, who “pinned” the new Chief with his badge and shoulder board stars.

Of note, DiBenedetto is also owner and proprietor of DiBenedetto's Karate Jiu-Jitsu in Hammond, where his motto maintains “Practice makes perfect.”

Parish President Gordon Burgess also took a few pictures of Tickfaw’s new PD for the millennium—even checking for the body cameras that several on the force have worn as part of the required uniform for nearly two years.

Take a look at several images from last night’s inauguration captured by Action News 17:
