WALKER – At approximately 8:15 pm on New Year's Eve, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two vehicle crash resulting in three fatalities that occurred on LA Hwy 447 south of I-12 in Livingston Parish. The crash took the lives of the driver of one vehicle, and two passengers in the other.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as 24-year-old Trinity R. Kiger of Satsuma was driving a 2004 Mazda MZ6 northbound on LA Hwy 447. At the same time, 38-year-old Ronald Chisholm of Denham Springs was driving a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer southbound on LA Hwy 447. As Kiger entered a right hand curve his Mazda crossed the center line into the southbound lane of travel for unknown reasons. As a result the Mazda struck the Mercury.

Kiger was unrestrained at the time of the crash and suffered fatal injuries as a result. Chisholm was properly restrained, but was transported from the scene to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center (OLOL) in Baton Rouge with moderate injuries. Impairment on the part of Kiger is unknown at this time. Impairment on the part of Chisholm is not suspected. Toxicology samples were taken from both and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.

Chisholm was traveling with his wife and two daughters at the time of the crash. 37-year-old Shannon Chisholm was in the front passenger seat. Despite the fact that she was properly restrained she suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash. She was transported from the scene to Ochsner Hospital in Baton Rouge where she succumbed to her injuries. 11-year-old Hannah Chisholm was in the rear middle seat of the Mercury. She was wearing her seatbelt; however, the vehicle was equipped with a lap belt only. Hannah suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Chisholm’s 14-year-old daughter was properly restrained in the rear seat; however, she was transported to OLOL with moderate injuries.
