Suspect charged in Mooney Avenue shooting
Press Release from Hammond Police:
October 17, 2020, City of Hammond, LA — On October 16, 2020, the Hammond Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the 900 block of Mooney Avenue. Upon arrival, HPD officers learned the victim was shot one time in the leg by Marques Harrison Jr., 21 years old of Hammond.
Witnesses stated that Harrison had just fled the area in a red Chevrolet Camaro. Other officers responding to the scene were able to locate the suspect vehicle fleeing northbound on North Morrison Boulevard. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and were able to place Harrison in custody.
Marques Harrison Jr. was booked into the Hammond City Jail on charges of Attempted Second Degree Murder, Attempted Armed Robbery, Illegal Discharge of a Weapon, Possession of Schedule I, II, and III Narcotics, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
