State and Town lifted Boil Order for Abita Springs

From the Town of Abita Springs

The Precautionary Boil Water Advisory for Abita Springs has been lifted. All samples brought to LDH have been tested and cleared.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Friday Update on the Boil Water Advisory:
This morning water samples were dropped off at the Louisiana Department of Health lab in Amite. Testing takes 24 hours.

We have confirmed with LDH that we will be notified of our results between 9:00-11:00am tomorrow morning, June 15. We anticipate these results will allow us to rescind the Precautionary Boil Water Advisory.

Once we lift the advisory, notices will be distributed to ActionNews17.com, Facebook, the Town Website and through blast email.

In the last 24 hours, we have had about 300 new contacts added to our emergency email list! Thank you for taking the time to add your information.

We have heard your concerns about our emergency notification system and are looking into different forms of contact for the future.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Wednesday at approximately 10:30 PM we received notification that pressure had dropped from several residents around town.

Two public works employees were dispatched to the Water Well on Hwy. 36 East. They discovered the source of the low pressure to be an electrical malfunction. The well was refilled with a manual override. Water pressure dropped below 20 psi. while the system was not functioning properly, which mandated a precautionary boil water advisory. This boil water advisory is strictly precautionary. We are currently working on repairing the issue.

The Boil Water Advisory will be rescinded as soon as our water samples come back from the Louisiana Department of Health. This process is expected to take between 24-48 hours.

Please help us spread the word by directing people to our Facebook page and the Town Website. We will be posting updates on Facebook and our website as soon as they are available.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation!

Our office is receiving calls asking if individual homes are affected. If you pay your water bill to the Town of Abita Springs then you are included in the Boil Water Advisory. If you pay your water bill to another company than you not required to Boil your water and are not affected.
