Southeastern's Corbett, Miller named to AP All-America Teams
After helping Southeastern Louisiana to its second straight Southland Conference championship, senior linebacker Isiah Corbett and junior defensive back Harlan Miller were named to the 2014 Associated Press Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) All-America Teams, which were released by the AP on Wednesday.

Corbett, a Belle Glade, Florida native, and Miller, who hails from Kentwood, Louisiana, were both third-team selections. Both were key members of a Southeastern defense that led the Southland Conference in scoring (17.7 ppg allowed) and total (293.2 ypg allowed) defense.

Southeastern had at least one player on the AP All-America Teams for the third straight season. Kick returner Xavier Roberson and place-kicker Seth Sebastian were named to the teams last year, while defensive back Robert Alford, now of the Atlanta Falcons, was a first-team selection in 2012.

Both Lions were first team All-Southland selections last month. A total of nine Southland performers earned All-America honors, as the SLU duo was joined by Central Arkansas senior offensive lineman Cole Carruthers, Stephen F. Austin senior running back Gus Johnson, McNeese State senior offensive lineman Antonie Everett, Northwestern State junior all-purpose player Ed Eagan, Sam Houston State junior offensive lineman Donald Jackson III, Lamar senior wide receiver Mark Roberts and UCA junior defensive lineman Jonathan Woodard.

Corbett was one of the leaders of the dominant SLU defense on the way to earning all-conference accolades for the second straight season. The Coahoma Community College native led the Lions with 12.0 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks and four interceptions to go with 72 tackles.

Miller was named first team All-Southland for the second straight year after playing a key role for a SLU team that leads the FCS in pass defense efficiency. Despite missing three games with an injury, Miller finished second on the team with three interceptions and established himself as one of the nation’s true lockdown cornerbacks.

Corbett completed his time in Hammond by receiving his diploma last Saturday at the university’s fall commencement exercises. Miller and the Lions will open spring practice on Feb. 24. The Spring Game is set for March 28.
