Southeastern Lions Baseball team opens fall practice
HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana baseball program opens its fall practice period Wednesday at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.

Coach Matt Riser’s ball club returns 23 lettermen and three redshirts off last season’s 37-22 squad. Joining them in fall camp are 14 newcomers, including seven transfers. A veteran team, the Lions have 17 seniors.

New NCAA legislation passed this summer allows Division I teams to play a limited number of exhibition games against outside competition that do not count against spring playing dates. Taking advantage of the new policy, the Lions are slated to host Northwest Florida State College on Oct. 12 in Hammond.

Fans interested in becoming active supporters of the baseball program are encouraged to join the Diamond Club. Lion baseball alums are encouraged to join the exclusive S Club, which is restricted to Southeastern athletic letter winners. S Club members also gain membership in the Diamond Club.

All membership fees and donations to both the Diamond Club and S Club (baseball) are available for the exclusive use of the Southeastern baseball program. Membership information is available by contacting the Lion Athletics Association at or (985) 549-5091.
