SLU's Marino appointed to state human trafficking board
HAMMOND – Reshelle Marino, an assistant professor in Southeastern Louisiana University’s graduate program in counseling, has been appointed by Gov. John Bel Edwards to the state’s Human Trafficking Prevention Commission Advisory Board.

The advisory board provides information and recommendations from the perspective of advocacy groups, service providers and victims to the Louisiana Human Trafficking Prevention Commission.

Over the past three years, more than 1,000 human trafficking cases have been reported to the Louisiana State Police; nearly half the cases in 2016 involved minors being exploited for sexual purposes.

A past president of the Louisiana School Counselors Association, Marino was nominated for the position by the LSCA, a division of the American School Counselors Association. She is also active in the Louisiana Counseling Association, and in 2015 was honored with its Distinguished Professional Service Award.

Marino is the interim program coordinator of Southeastern’s Graduate Counseling Program. A resident of Metairie, she received her undergraduate degree from Southeastern and a master’s and doctorate in counselor education from the University of New Orleans.
