Recruiting for new class of Leadership Tangipahoa
HAMMOND---As Leadership Tangipahoa completes the 2019-2020 season, Board of Trustees Chairperson Ronda Durbin has announced applications are now being accepted for the 2020-2021 class.
“This certainly has been a year of interruptions,” said Durbin “However, we are planning on finishing this year strong, and the board has agreed to move forward to begin accepting applications for next year.”
Leadership Tangipahoa is an eleven month program for emerging leaders to learn specific leadership skills and gain a broad exposure to the community. Participants meet their peers in other fields and form contacts that will benefit their volunteer and professional activities.
Currently, the class is comprised of twenty-five participants who meet once a month to experience a specific theme in the community. The Leadership Class learned about parish government, municipal government, the justice system, the local education system, tourism, and social services.
“COVID-19 caused us to cancel our healthcare, economic development and state capital trips,” said Leadership Executive Coordinator Nick Gagliano. “However, we are going to modify and combine our healthcare and economic development day in June so the class will be able to hear from these leaders.”
Each Leadership Class is limited to 25 participants and plans are being made for the upcoming year. “For the upcoming year we are planning on being very fluid. The board is committed to making the experience one that lives up to the high standards Leadership Tangipahoa is known for,” said Gagliano.
