Official: Streetside Market will open doors Sept. 9
HAMMOND - Streetside Market announced today that it will officially open its doors at 201 W. Thomas Street on Monday, September 9, 2019.
The Streetside team has repurposed the old Ford building in the downtown area, bringing a modern and diversified, yet singular dining experience to the Hammond community.
The restaurant offers a varied selection of cuisine from Italian, Hawaiian, and Asian to time-tested Louisiana staples. The diversity of cuisine at Streetside Market suggests that its true identity is something new and different entirely. Even though the cuisine offered at Streetside Market is as diverse as it is delicious, it’s all served in a traditional, sit-down restaurant setting. The servers, trained and knowledgeable in the array of options, tie the whole experience together by bringing a world of cuisine right to your table.
Menu highlights include Morning Call’s signature New Orleans-style beignets, which are available in orders of 3 and 5. Morning Call co-owner, Bob Hennessey, told The Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate that “people will find familiar touchstones, starting with beignets made with a sourdough mix and French drip coffee poured from kettles.” Patrons can rest assured that all beignets and coffee are made to the “old school standard” of the historic NOLA beignet stand.
Another highlight of Streetside Market that everyone is bound to enjoy is the re-emergence of Trey Yuen. Mr. Wong’s involvement in Hammond’s extremely successful Chinese restaurant has been remembered by foodie fans everywhere. He responded to the high demand for his return with an all-new menu at one of Streetside’s five selections, Wok, Bowl & Roll, which boasts an assortment of sushi rolls, poké bowls, and traditional Chinese dishes that are sure to appease fans of Trey Yuen— both old and new.
Other menu items worth spotlighting are the Shelby, a grilled cheese sandwich with applewood smoked bacon and marinated cherry tomatoes on white bread from Market Eats, the Catfish Lafitte, Little Charlie’s famous fried catfish filet covered with crawfish étouffée, and the Stinger, a pizza topped with Italian sausage, mozzarella, and spiked honey from Forno Di Fuoco.
Streetside Market will operate Monday through Thursday from 7 AM to 10 PM, Friday and Saturday from 7 AM to 11 PM, and Sunday from 7 AM to 9 PM. The joint venture between Saul Rubio, Greg & Glen Alack, John Wong, and Shawn Zhang has been one of the most-talked-about commercial developments of Summer 2019, as the community awaits its September 9th opening with great anticipation.
