Mary Louise Hatcher Allen

Mary Louise Allen, 76, went to be with her Lord on October 7, 2019. Mary Louise was born in Baton Rouge, LA on November 14, 1942. She graduated from Denham Springs High School in 1961. While during her senior year she married her husband, Charles Wayne Allen. She worked at various banking institutions during the next eleven years. In 1972, she and Charles started Charles W. Allen Trucking. She and Charles along with their son Dickie, ran the family business for many years. Upon their respective deaths, she ran the company along with her faithful employees, until her retirement this year. Following her retirement, she spent the next couple of months taking care of her long-time companion, Alexander Gaspard, until he passed away in June.

She was a long-time member of Amite Baptist Church where she spent many Sunday mornings playing the piano for several Sunday School classes. She loved her church and was loved by so many there. At one time, she was granted special clearance by the Department of Corrections to serve on the Prison Ministry team at Angola where she played piano and organ.

Mary Louise is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Lennox; grandchildren, Jacob William Lennox, Jared Wayne Lennox and Jordan Wade Lennox and his wife Amanda Lennox; great-grandchildren, Braydon Thomas Lennox, Brayleigh Marie Lennox and Brixton Wade Lennox. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wayne Allen; son, Richard Wayne (Dickie) Allen; parents Demmie R. and Mary L. Hatcher; mother and father-in-law, John C. and Agnes W. Allen; and special friend, Alexander Gaspard.

Visitation will be at Seale Funeral Home on Friday, October 11, 2019 from 11 am until services at 2 pm. Interment will follow at Amite Baptist Church Cemetery. Reception to follow in Fellowship Hall at Amite Baptist Church.
