Judith 'Judy' Marie Hardin Herring
Judy, age 74, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019, at North Oaks Hospital, in Hammond, LA. She was born March 4, 1945, in Kenner, LA, and is the daughter of the late Helen Turnage and Chester Joseph Hardin Sr. Judy was a proud graduate of Springfield High School, where she was fondly known as “little bit,” and voted Most Athletic and Noisiest, despite her small stature. She went on to devote her life to the children of her community, and spreading the gospel to others, with the same tenacity she was known for on the basketball court. Judy was a Special Education Teacher’s Aid at Springfield Elementary from 1972-1981, and taught Sunday School for over 45 years. She was a dedicated member of Woodland Baptist Church. Judy will always be remembered for her faith and love in the lord and the LSU Tigers.
She is survived by her high school sweetheart and beloved husband of 56 years, James “Jimmy” Herring, of Springfield, LA. Also surviving are her adored children, Darinda “Deanie” Herring Wall, married to Allen Wall, Chester “Chet” Herring, married to Robbie McLeod Herring, and Ryan Pernell Herring; treasured sister, Billie Hardin Adams, married to Kenneth “Kenny” Adams; cherished grandchildren, Christen Abels, Christopher “Chris” Herring, Caraline Abels, Britney Herring Scott, Brandon Herring, Autumn Herring, and Sawyer Herring; precious great-grandson, Brody Young; loved nephew and niece, Kenneth “Donnie” Adams and Sondra Adams Bourdelon; and many cousins, great nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Helen Turnage and Chester Joseph Hardin Sr.; adored little brother, Chester "Buddy" Hardin Jr.; and niece, Angel Adams.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Woodland Baptist Church, 27929 Blood River Road, Springfield, Tuesday, November 19, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. until the beginning of the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Brother Paul Taylor and Brother Jeremy Glascock will officiate with interment to follow in Springfield Cemetery.
