Deborah Cooper Connelly Jacobsen

Deborah Cooper Connelly Jacobsen was born February 13, 1951 in Baton Rouge, LA. She grew up in Hammond, LA along with her 4 sisters. Debbie met Ronnie her college sweetheart while attending Southeastern Louisiana University. They were married on December 18, 1971. Debbie graduated from Southeastern Nursing School in 1973. She and Ronnie settled in Mobile, AL and had 2 beautiful children Chad and Amy. She was employed at Doctors Hospital as and OB nurse. She later took a position as nursing instructor Southwest Technical College/Bishop State. During this time she earned a Masters of Nursing from UAB, and moved to Faulkner State Community College in 2003 where she was instrumental in starting the nursing program. She taught maternity until she retired in 2008. She loved the opportunity to teach her students and make a positive impact on each student’s life. Teaching nursing and promoting students to excel in the nursing field was a highlight of her life.

She was a devoted follower of Christ and a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church. Debbie deeply loved the ladies with whom she prayed and fellowshipped with. They had a long standing weekly prayer and rosary group. She was loved by so many people that she mentored and encouraged to do the Lord’s work.

Debbie loved life to the fullest and her greatest joy was helping others to reach their best self. Her favorite moments were times spent with family and friends. She especially enjoyed being outside in her garden, sitting on the porch at her River House and special travel trips with her husband Dan.

Debbie’s smile was so beautiful and contagious; she could light up the darkest of rooms. She was a true southern lady filled with grace. Family will receive friends on Friday December 6 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Mobile, AL.
