Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home

Colleen Howes Bodker passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at nearly 92 years old. Born and raised in Ponchatoula, she married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life for seventy years, A.J. Bodker. Colleen enjoyed going to her family camp on the Tangipahoa River, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family. She was a stay at home mom who became the best “mawmaw” to her five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Colleen was a nurturer who made everyone feel at home and comforted by her presence. She spoiled her loved ones with candy and her special chocolate chip cookies and homemade mayhaw jelly.

Colleen is survived by her husband A.J. Bodker; their four children, Peggy (Tony), David (Diane), Mellie, and Carol (John); five grandchildren, Jay (Aimee), Lee, Amy, Megan (Dean), and Becky; three great-grandchildren, Brock and Elizabeth Wiggins, and Hudson Kelley; and her brother, Orville Howes.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Lucille Howes.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital or the First Presbyterian Church of Ponchatoula.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at First Presbyterian Church of Ponchatoula on Friday, April 26, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m. Bro. Aaron Gordon will officiate the service with interment to follow in Wetmore Cemetery.
