Clyde Rodney Keating passed away after a long battle with cancer on Sunday, March 4, 2018 surrounded by family at his home in Covington, LA. He was born on June 19, 1944 in Madisonville, LA to the late Alvin Avie Keating and Louise Fitzgerald Keating.

Clyde was married to his beloved wife, Carol Fisher Keating, for 50 years. He was the brother of Donald Keating (Betty). Clyde was loved by numerous nieces, nephews, cousin, and friends.

Clyde held a Bachelor degree from Southeastern Louisiana University where he also ran track. He earned a Master’s Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. Clyde retired from teaching after 30 years in St. Tammany Parish. He taught physical science and agriculture at Folsom Junior High and Covington High School. Clyde served on the St. Tammany Police Jury from 1988 until 1992. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. Among his many interests, Clyde raised Catahoula hounds, did taxidermy, and gave bow hunting seminars. He was an outdoors writer for Bayed Solid Magazine and created custom scrimshaw. He will be dearly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Service at Fitzgerald United Methodist Church, 80007 Fitzgerald Church Rd, Covington, LA 70435 on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM. A WAKE will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Visitation on Friday will be AT CHURCH from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow the service at Simalusa Cemetery, Covington, LA.
