Charles, age 80, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. He was a lifelong resident of Albany, LA. Charles was an extremely hard worker who took pride in providing for his family. He was a “jack of all trades” and could fix anything and everything. Charles enjoyed a good laugh and loved telling corny jokes. He liked to hunt, fish, and play a good game of Checkers. Charles was a loving husband, caring father, and a wonderful Paw Paw who is already deeply missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary “Boots” Wagner; children, Charlene Hoyt and husband Joey, Sherry Hill and husband David, Charles Wagner Jr. and wife Shelly, and Lurlene Stratton and husband Ben; sister, Vera Honea and husband Jim; and brothers, Clayton Wagner and wife Shirley, and Lawrence Wagner. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Mandy Duncan and husband Jeremy, Shelly Wayne Hill and wife Stacie, Laramie Hill and wife Mandy, Cory Wagner and wife Lisa, Lacey Whitehead and husband Andrew, and Benjamin Stratton and wife Jessica; dearest friend, Vickie Jeasonne; and great-grandchildren, Laniey, Baylor, Shayla, Mikey, Dylan, Chloe, Cole, Ethan, Charleigh Grace, Ashton, Weston, Eli, Gracie, Brody, and Paisley.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Riley C. Wagner and Mary “Lizzie” Wagner; brothers, Dennis, Bobby, Huck, and Claiborne Wagner; grandparents, Charles Simpson Wagner and Elizabeth Walls Stewart Wagner; grandchild, Joey “Lil Joey” Hoyt; and great-grandchild, Shayna “ Shay Shay” Stratton.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson, Hammond, on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Bro. Ben Stratton will officiate and interment will follow in Blood River Baptist Church Cemetery.
