Hammond Eastside Magnet school hosted its annual Campus Beautification Day on Saturday, August 4. Parents, students, community members and faculty came together to help get the campus ready for the new school year. The group removed weeds from the flowerbeds, blew leaves from the courtyard, cleaned baseboards, painted, and cleaned windows at the school.

There were a total of 47 volunteers present, all proudly representing Hammond Eastside’s strong sense of community and teamwork. As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World school, Hammond Eastside aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

Among other tenets, IB learners strive to be caring by showing empathy, compassion and respect. They are committed to service and act to make a positive difference in the lives of others and the world around them. Hammond Eastside’s Campus Beautification Day is just one demonstration of the school’s commitment to service.
