HAMMOND, LA - November 27, 2018 - Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards reports the following:

On November 11, 2018, Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division with the assistance Hammond Police Department arrested 29-year-old James "BRASI" McCray and 24-year-old Jonquel Griffin of Hammond, LA.

The arrests followed an investigation led by the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division where information was received of possible narcotics activity at the trailer park located on E. Cooper Road. Through the course of the investigation, agents were able to identify McCray and Griffin as the known occupants of the target residence. It was further discovered McCray was wanted by the Marietta County Georgia Probation and Parole due to absconding on narcotics related charges. With the information gathered during the investigation, agents were able to obtain a search warrant for the residence. Upon execution of the search warrant McCray and Griffin were discovered in the residence as well as four children. A search of the residence yielded a large amount of prescription medication as well as suspected marijuana.

McCray and Griffin were subsequently placed in custody for possession with intent to distribute Schedule IV (three counts), possession of schedule I, Possession of drug paraphernalia, and child endangerment. At the direction of Department of Children and Family Services, the children were transferred to family members.
