Suspect sought in series of contractor-based fraud cases

From the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office:

HAMMOND, LA - December 5, 2018 - The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriffs Office Financial Crimes Unit in recent months has been conducting a series of fraud related investigations,which began in July of 2018. As a result, Detective Travis Pitman has identified 39-year-old Sarasota, Florida native Axel Sabastian Escobar-Salinas as the person responsible for the crimes.

During the investigation Detective Pitman met with several victims of Escobar Salinas, where it was learned he advertised himself under the business identified as "Custom Kitchen & Remodeling LLC", a fake business. Escobar-Salinas would take payment from the victims and fail to perform the work. Additionally, Escobar Salinas while in the homes of the victims, would access Lowes and Home Depot Card information from the victims, later using the credit card information to make fraudulent purchases.

Currently Escobar-Salinas is wanted both the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriffs Office and the Livingston Parish Sheriffs Office on charges ranging from L.R.S.14:67.16 (Felony) Identity Theft, 14:202.1 Home Improvement Fraud and 14:70.4 Access Device Fraud. Escobar-Salinas has ties to the City of Hammond and Sarasota, Florida.
