Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected both today and Friday across southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi, particularly during the afternoon hours, although a few could linger into the early evening. One or two storms could be strong to marginally severe this afternoon, especially west of the Pearl River. The main concern is for strong to damaging downburst winds, although frequent lightning and locally heavy rainfall is also possible with any strong storms. A few waterspouts could occur over the coastal waters.
