From Ponchatoula Police:

PONCHATOULA- Chief Bry Layrisson announces the arrest of two subjects for attempted robbery of the La Carreta Restaurant.

On Saturday night around 9 p.m., two subjects entered La Carreta providing a false story and insisted that an employee give them the key to the safe.

Once the subjects realized that they would not be given the key, they exited the restaurant.

Officers searched the rear of the building and noticed one of the subjects hiding in a truck. Officers made contact with the subject identified as Timothy Thompson, age 48, from South Carolina. The other subject approached the scene as officers were talking to Thompson and identified himself as 42-year-old James Bonner. The two subjects provided officers with a different story than they told the LaCaretta employee and were subsequently placed under arrest.

Timothy Thompson was found to be wanted for a warrant out of South Carolina. He was booked for Attempted Simple Robbery and Fugitive of Other Jurisdiction. James Bonner was found to have narcotics in his wallet and was booked for Attempted Simple Robbery and Possession of Schedule II Drugs. Both subjects were transported to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.
