HAMMOND---A special treat is currently brewing at the Hammond Regional Arts Center as it partners with Luma Coffee Roasters for a pop-up coffee shop this holiday season.

From November 30 through December 20, Luma Coffee will sell their signature roast coffee selections, giving the Hammond community a different taste in experiencing the Arts Center.

“The artistry and hand-crafted quality that goes in the personal roasting of Luma Coffee compliments the original, hand-crafted one-of-a-kind that is currently available here at the Hammond Regional Arts Center,” said HRAC Executive Director Maureen Joyce. “Plan your next coffee break with us.”

“I think it’s a great dynamic to integrate getting a mid-day pick-me-up while viewing the art on our walls,” said HRAC Media Coordinator Tara Bennett. “It puts the focus on the art and gives a new way to interact with the Arts Center.”

The pop-up shop will be open the following dates: Nov. 30, Dec. 6-7, Dec. 13-14, and Dec. 20 during regular gallery hours. On Nov. 30, the pop-up shop hours will expand and be open during the last 2018 session of Playing the Staircase with Bill Robison.

Luma Coffee Roasters is Hammond’s first local specialty coffee roaster. Co-owners Devin and Catherine Masters and Logan and Shelby Torrance began roasting coffee at home in 2015 with the dream of starting a down coffee shop built on the values of community, excellence, and education.

When not brewing up coffee, the Masters work as wedding and portrait photographers. They are also the worship leaders for The Mission Church's youth and college/career ministries.

Over the last few years, Luma Coffee Roasters has invested in training and education from the Specialty Coffee Association of America to increase the quality of what they can offer their customers.

“We take a lot of pride in what we do because we want to make sure that what we offer is the best of the best,” Devin Masters said. “We love our town of Hammond and love serving the amazing people who live here.”
