HAMMOND---Dr. Chad Domangue of Cypress Pointe Pain Management testified as a Medical Expert at the Senate Health and Welfare committee meeting on Wednesday, May 2, in support of therapeutic use fo marijuana.

Domangue spoke specifically regarding HB579 from state Rep. Edward James related to the therapeutic use of marijuana for intractable pain, PTSD, Parkinson’s, glaucoma, and severe muscle spasms.

His testimony centered on ulterior treatment alternatives.

"I am dedicated to helping my patients lead pain-free lives without the use of opioids, and I think this is a step in the right direction,” explained Dr. Domangue. This comes as great news in the fight against the growing Opioid epidemic that has plagued not only our state but our nation as well.

“It was refreshing to have Dr. Domangue in committee and finally having a medical doctor giving a non-biased objective perspective behind the science of this medicine and it’s potential to be an alternative to opiates and other harsh narcotics,” said Jesse McCormick of Capital Partners.

HB 579 cleared the Senate and is now awaiting House concurrence.
