From State Fire Marshal Butch Browning

BATON ROUGE - The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal (OSFM) is proud to name Ashley Rodrigue, formerly of WWL-TV, as its Public Affairs Director.

Ashley has spent the past 13 years covering news in Louisiana and Texas. Her reporting has been recognized with numerous local and regional awards. Ashley has a reputation with both colleagues and viewers for being reliable, tenacious and fair.

“I considered my time in the news business as more of a public service than a job,” said Rodrigue, “I’m excited to now be involved with a different kind of public service through safety and fire prevention efforts of the State Fire Marshal’s Office.”

Ashley is a native of New Orleans and a graduate of LSU’s Manship School of Mass Communication. Before spending almost six years with WWL-TV in New Orleans, she worked at WBRZ in Baton Rouge and KFDM in Beaumont, TX.

Chief H. “Butch” Browning says the agency is excited to open this new chapter to be a better leader in fire safety and prevention education.
“Ashley comes to us with a vast knowledge of informing the public,” said Browning, “Clearly we will save more lives and preserve more property, resulting from fires and explosions, because of this addition to our family.”

As the Public Affairs Director, Ashley will be promoting fire safety and prevention efforts, serving as a media liaison for operations of the Fire Marshal’s Office and highlighting notable programs and stories from the fire service across the state. Ashley can be reached by phone at 225-620-5115 or by email at
