The Greater Hammond Chamber supports the renewal of the millage to fund the Tangipahoa Parish Library on the ballot for the March 24 election. Tangipahoa Parish residents are currently paying three mills, and the millage would renew for 10 years if passed.

"The Tangipahoa Parish Library's services and facilities promote education and improve the quality of life in Tangipahoa Parish," Greater Hammond Chamber Chairman Elsbet Smith Hollywood said. "As this millage is simply a renewal and not an increase, it will allow the Library to maintain those important services and facilities."

A series of town meetings are being held at library branches throughout the parish to explain the details of the renewal. The next one will take place at the Hammond Branch on Saturday, March 17, at 10 a.m.

For more information on the library's millage renewal, visit any library branch, www.tangilibrary.com, the Tangi Library Facebook page, or attend the March 17 meeting.

Early voting for the Saturday, March 24 election will be March 10-17 (except for Sunday, March 11), from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information on the rest of the ballot for the March 24 election, visit www.geauxvote.com.
