Albany Candidates Forum Planned by Livingston Parish Chamber

Albany, LA (October 8, 2018) –

So far eight candidates seeking various offices in Albany races have confirmed they will be present at the Albany Candidates Meet & Greet – Forum hosted by the Livingston Parish Chamber.

April Wehrs, Chamber President stated, “The Chamber’s board and governmental affairs committee will host this event. The program will be formal with time allotments for each candidate attending to introduce themselves and their platform followed by questions and answer sessions. Currently, we have available time for a mayors’ forum but are also looking at an opportunity to add all candidates.”

Chamber Governmental Affairs Committee Chair Candy Forbes added, “We anticipate a high interest in the races within Albany. We have reached out to mayor, council, police chief and school board candidates for this event. We had interest and reached out to a larger venue for the event, but we were unable to book another venue.”

The event is open to the public and seating will be first come, first served. The Chamber does plan to record the forum as well allow those who could not make it in person view the recording. Facebook live is also an option at this point, but their new rules on candidates and elections may limit that opportunity.

The forum will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at the Albany Springfield Library.  Seating and parking are very limited. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a meet and greet.  Candidate introductions will begin at 6:00 p.m. followed by a forum. Todd Caruso, Walker City Judge and Denham Springs attorney, will moderate.
