February has been designated as Black History Month, and in recognition of that Hammond City Councilman Kip Andrews is accepting nominations for the Muse Public Service Award.

The award is named in remembrance of the councilman’s grandparents, Charlie and Lillie Muse, who dedicated their lives to public service in law enforcement and education.

The Muse Public Service Award will honor individuals who go “above and beyond the call of duty in public service.”

To make a nomination, send in a one-page essay explaining how your nominee goes above and beyond in public service. Essays should be emailed to Andrews at andrews1911@yahoo.com, and the deadline for submissions is Feb. 24.
