From Louisiana State Police:
WALKER – At approximately 10 p.m. on December 24, 2018, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single vehicle crash that resulted in a fatality on LA Hwy 447 south of LA Hwy 63 in Livingston Parish.

The crash took the life of 24-year-old Chad A. Whisman of Walker.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Whisman was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado northbound on LA Hwy 447. For unknown reasons, as Whisman entered a right hand curve, his vehicle ran off the roadway to the left. After leaving the roadway the Chevrolet struck a tree on the driver’s side.

Whisman was unrestrained and suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. He was pronounced deceased on scene by the Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office. Impairment on his part is unknown at this time, but may have been a factor. A toxicology sample was obtained from him to be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.

A juvenile front seat passenger was restrained and was uninjured. This crash remains under investigation.
