18-year-old convicted of attempted murder and armed robbery

Amite- District Attorney Scott M. Perrilloux reports that 18-year-old Isaiah Williams, of Hammond, LA, pleaded no contest to attempted second degree murder and armed robbery with the use of a firearm.

On September 27, 2017, TPSO deputies were dispatched to Russell Town Road in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies observed a male lying across the roadway bleeding heavily with one spent shell casing beneath his head. The male victim was conscious and advised officers that he had been shot in the back of the neck.

The 16-year-old male victim stated that he was walking northbound on Russell Town Road when a brown SUV occupied by three males stopped in front of him. One of the males exited the vehicle and asked him for some of his belongings and attempted to rob him. While in the process, the male shot him with a handgun, re-entered the vehicle, and drove southbound on Russell Town Road.

Through the subsequent investigation, three individuals including Isaiah Williams were found to have committed the armed robbery and the attempted murder. All three admitted to being present and participating in the crime. The investigation uncovered the fact that Isaiah Williams was the shooter.

As a result of his injuries the victim is paralyzed from the neck down needing full time care.

Isaiah Williams was sentenced to 10 years with the department of corrections for attempted second degree murder and 15 years with the department of corrections for armed robbery with the use of a firearm. Time is to be served consecutively, totaling 25 years without the benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence.

Assistant District Attorney Leā€™Anne Malnar; Judge Elizabeth Wolfe handed down the sentence.
