On Monday, December 15, 2014 at approximately 12:30 a.m. the Mandeville Police Department responded to an alarm at The Spokesman Professional Bicycle Shop located in the Northlake Shopping Center.

Upon the officers it was discovered that the front glass door of shop had been broken out. It was determined that the only item missing from inside the store was a FELT IA4 Carbon Fiber Triathlon bike worth over $5,000.00. According to the store owner, the bike was very rare and would be very easy to spot due to its unique appearance.

Later Monday evening the owner of the Spokesman was notified by the owner of another cycling store in the area that a vehicle was in his parking lot with a bicycle matching the description of the stolen one in the rear of the vehicle. That owner provided the vehicle description and the license plate number and that information was relayed to the Mandeville Police Department. A short time later a vehicle bearing the description was observed by Mandeville Police in the parking lot of McDonalds in Mandeville.

Officers approached the vehicle and made contact with the occupant, Mr. James Fruge, age 31 of Bogalusa, La. Mr. Fruge gave signed consent to search his vehicle. The stolen bicycle was retrieved from the rear seat of the vehicle.

Mr. Fruge was admitted to the theft and was placed under arrest. Mr. Fruge was charged with one count of Simple Burglary.
