Ridder elected to 6th Ward Constable office

After more than 20 years of seeking public office, on Friday local candidate Phillip David Ridder, Jr., was elected without opposition to the office of constable for the 6th Ward of Tangipahoa Parish.

A longtime law enforcement officer, Ridder is a businessman who served as a member of the Louisiana Manufactured Homes Board. He has run for numerous offices over the last 20 years, including Livingston Parish Sheriff, Albany Police Chief, State Representative for Districts 62, 86, and 72, as well as recent runs for Tangipahoa Parish School Board in 2018 and Tangipahoa Parish Council in 2019.

In his role as constable, Ridder will carry the orders of his 6th Ward Justice of the Peace, Terri Monteleone Crosby, who was re-elected without opposition as well on Friday. Ridder’s job will include serving citations and enforcing evictions and garnishments as ordered by the JP.

He will fill the seat Joseph “Joe” Sinagra of Independence has held since January 1997. According to the Secretary of State’s website, Sinagra’s term officially ends on Dec. 31 of this year.

The office is a six year term and follows the same election schedule as that for local judges.
