From State Police
Franklinton – On Tuesday, September 8, 2020, before 6:30 am, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to a fatal crash on LA 25 south of the Mississippi state line in Washington Parish. The crash claimed the life of 27-year-old Tamesha P. Shaffer of Tylertown, MS.
The initial investigation led Troopers to determine that Shaffer was southbound on LA 25 in a 2006 Toyota Corolla when, for reasons still under investigation, her vehicle exited the roadway and impacted a culvert. Shaffer was unrestrained during the crash and sustained fatal injuries. She was pronounced deceased on scene by the Washington Parish Coroner’s Office. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. As part of the ongoing investigation, blood samples were taken from Puckett for scientific analysis.
Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists to make good, safe decisions such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, obeying the speed limit, and avoiding all distractions which can often mean the difference between life and death. While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when properly restrained.
