HPD investigates early morning battery case

November 20, 2019, City of Hammond, LA – The Hammond Police Department is currently investigating a battery that occurred at the intersection of South Cate Street and East Coleman Avenue. On November 3, 2019, at approximately 1:45 a.m., the victim was walking down the street and confronted by a group of white males in a silver, regular-cab, pickup truck. One of the male subjects struck the victim in the face causing him to fall to the ground. The victim has since been required to undergo surgery due to the injuries sustained from the incident.
