Bartenders hope to set themselves apart at HRAC competition
HAMMOND---The third annual “Art of the Cocktail” returns on Friday, Feb. 8 with “spirited” creations from local mixologist teams at the Hammond Regional Arts Center in downtown Hammond.

Wear your favorite feathers, fringe, sequins or berets and join us for our Moulin Rouge-themed 2019 Art of the Cocktail! Think Side Car, Absinthe or Cognac, you definitely “Can Can” celebrate with us this year and toast to the best bartenders in town! Join the HRAC from 6:30-9:30 p.m. to enjoy cocktails in Tangipahoa’s latest cocktail competition. “Art of the Cocktail” brings together groups of bartenders from various bars and restaurants around the city to compete for the title of best drink in Hammond. The event, which benefits the Hammond Regional Arts Center, allows attendees to cast their vote for the best cocktail while strengthening the arts and culture in their community.
New to this year's Art of the Cocktail will be a Best in Show award where our panel of judges will select the top cocktail. The audience favorite will still be present to select the most popular cocktail of the evening. Along with the new award, we will also have expanded space behind the Arts Center with entrance to Art of the Cocktail in the back.

The 2019 participating bars and restaurants for “Art of the Cocktail” currently include: Crescent Bar, Blackened Brew, Benny’s Place, Cate Street Seafood Station, The Red White & Brew, One Thirteen, Mojitos Bistro, Mariner’s Inn, and Our Mom’s. Art of the Cocktail is sponsored by Downtown Development District, Nortech and Bienvenue Bon Ami Bed & Breakfast.

To add to the experience of the event, the HRAC has scheduled some "spirited" entertainment both inside and outside the building. Serving up some cabaret flavor for the night is Raynel Shepard who will sing the songs of Moulin Rouge, accompanied by New Orleans entertainer Harry Mayronne on piano. Art of the Cocktail attendees will hear classics such as “C’est Si Bon,” “I Love Paris,” and “La Vie en Rose,” evoking the sights and sounds of Paris. Also featured that night will be chamber folk music with a twist by Baton Rouge-based band Minos the Saint.

Ticket prices are $40 for HRAC members, and $45 for non-members and will be available for purchase through Wednesday, Feb. 6. Tickets must be purchased in advance and can be purchased at No tickets will be sold at the door.
