Tangi Schools closed Thursday; 12 month employees report
AMITE—Tangipahoa Parish Schools will remain closed on Thursday, Jan. 18, due to the high potential for hazardous road conditions across our area.

Tangipahoa Parish School Superintendent Mark Kolwe said his office has remained in close contact with parish emergency officials, who do not expect road conditions to improve until late morning on Thursday.

No employees are to report to duty on Thursday with the exception of 12-month employees. Kolwe said 12-month employees will be on a delayed report to work schedule. All 12-month employees should report to their job site at 10 a.m. Thursday, if road conditions allow for safe travel.

Kolwe said school officials are inspecting local schools and anticipate that classes should be able to resume on Friday, Jan. 19. An official statement will be posted on the school system website,, as well as on the Tangipahoa Parish School System Facebook page, and shared with the local media Thursday afternoon.
