Tangi Library offers America’s Genealogy, NewsBank services
HAMMOND---Currently, the Tangipahoa Parish Library offers a variety of resources online for library card holders. This includes audiobooks, eBooks, eMagazines, Louisiana Legal Forms, Student Resources and more.

Tangi Library is now expanding its online resources to include America’s News and Genealogy Bank. The combined NewsBank and Genealogy Bank online database will provide a new resource allowing patrons to search for obituaries and gain access to a complete archive of newspapers for 20 years.

The papers included in the archive will be Amite Tangi Digest, Hammond Daily Star, The Advocate, and The Times Picayune.

This resource is the largest of its kind including content from local, regional, and national sources. Users will not only be able to access newspapers, but also blogs, journals, broadcast transcripts and videos.

To access this database, visit the Tangi Library website at Then, under “My 24 Hour Library,” there will be a list of the online databases. NewsBank will be the last option in the column under “Genealogy.” By clicking on that link, the user will be prompted to enter in the numbers printed on the bottom of the Tangi Library card. After the numbers are accepted, the user will have full access to the NewsBank website.
