Entergy works to restore 13K+ without power in Tangipahoa

From Entergy of Louisiana:

HAMMOND – 31 cases / 14,410 customer outages
These customer outages are related to the Ponchatoula Substation outage, where a lightning strike damaged insulators on the buss around 1:30 AM this morning. 13,000 customers were affected. Distribution Servicemen switched load around as much as possible to get the numbers down to 8,100 and had to stop there, due to load constraints. Just after 7:00 am, feeder F0938 out of Hammond Substation tripped out due to overload and a recloser failure – which added 5,900 customer outages. Entergy is working to make repairs and pick that load back up on Hammond F0938 asap, but will have to put the customers that were shifted from Ponchatoula Substation to Hammond Substation back out. All of the affected customers out of Ponchatoula will be restored when Substation Team completes repairs around mid day today.

Entergy shifted 3 contract crews to Hammond for restoration work left over from last night. They are also working to bring in 3 outside Service Crews to assist with transformer cases.

More on Entergy's storm preparations from local Entergy Manager Eunice Harris (interview filmed Wednesday, one day prior to this outage)
