Chamber hosts "Ready to Run" workshop, luncheon March 2
HAMMOND---The Greater Hammond Chamber encourages Tangipahoa Parish residents who are interested in running for state, parish, or local office and those looking to get more involved in the process to join them for their Ready to Run workshop and Secretary of State Luncheon on Friday, March 2.

Ready to Run, an initiative of the Greater Hammond Chamber, will be held from 8-11 a.m. at the Shell Robert Training and Conference Center. The Secretary of State Luncheon with Tom Schedler will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the same location.

“2018 is a big year for local elections in our community. It is the goal of the Greater Hammond Chamber to serve as a resource to those individuals who are considering running for public office, as well as those individuals who are interested in learning more about public service or the management of political campaigns. With that goal in mind, we encourage you to register for our Ready to Run event,” said Chairman Elsbet Smith Hollywood.

For the workshop, Secretary of State Tom Schedler will lead an experienced group of professionals who will offer helpful advice on a range of topics, including the tough questions to ask before becoming a candidate, building a team, financing a campaign, how to qualify, party endorsements and political action committees, do’s and don’ts of campaigning, what to do after being elected and more. Joining him will be Jeremy Alford with LaPolitics Weekly, Nick Gagliano with the Gagliano Group, and Jason Redmond with Perceptive Reality Consulting.

“Public service is important and our elected officials can have a great impact on the future of our community and Tangipahoa Parish,” said Greater Hammond Chamber President and CEO Melissa Bordelon. “This is a special opportunity. Be sure to consider attending and urge others who may be interested to register to as well.”

During the luncheon, Schedler will provide an update on Geaux Biz, Geaux Vote and more.

Pre-registration is required for both events. Ready to Run attendance only is $10 and Secretary of State Luncheon attendance only is $30. Registration for both is $40, with reserved tables of six available are $300.
