Carlee White Gonzales announces candidacy for City Council
HAMMOND---Hammond native and attorney, Carlee White Gonzales announced her candidacy for City Council today. She seeks the District Two seat being vacated by Jason Hood, who is term limited.

“Hammond is unique with our beautiful, thriving historic downtown and safe and friendly neighborhoods. SLU and NTCC provide unmatched opportunities for economic growth and stability. As a councilwoman, I will advocate for family values, community policing, consistent implementation of city ordinances, improvement of infrastructure and economic opportunities that benefit my district and all the people of Hammond.”

Carlee was born and raised in Hammond. She is a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School and Loyola University New Orleans where she was captain and member of the Women’s Basketball team. She earned her juris doctorate from Loyola in 2009 before moving home to begin her career as an attorney. In 2015, Carlee opened her law practice on Thomas Street, blocks away from her childhood home. Carlee is married to Dr. Ryan Gonzales, also a Hammond native and they have a 3 year old son, Frederic.

“Hammond has always been my home, even when I was away for college and law school. I am passionate about the growth and progress of this community. I have strong roots in Hammond with my great grandparents founding the Toggery Shop and my grandparents developing Whitmar Acres and the Magnolia Inn and Restaurant. My husband and I both started our businesses here because we wanted to serve the people of this community. I feel a calling to take that service to a higher level by representing the people of District Two on the City Council.”

The election of City Council District Two is set for November 6, 2018.
