79-year-old Denham woman dies in early Sunday fire
From the Louisiana State Fire Marshal's Office:
DENHAM SPRINGS---The State Fire Marshal’s Office, Fire District #5 Fire Dept. and the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office are jointly investigating an early morning fire that occurred at 5:39 a.m.

A 79-year-old female has died in the incident.

The victim called 911 to report that her home was on fire, she was trapped and could not escape. Fire District #5 arrived within minutes and found an elevated manufactured home placed on mounting supports approximately 20 feet high with only one egress and escape. They reported full fire involvement of the home and area underneath it.

Despite an aggressive and dangerous fire attack by firefighters, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the Livingston Parish Coroner.

It is not believed any working smoke alarms were operating.

State Fire Marshal H. ”Butch” Browning stated, “We are aggressively working with the local agencies to determine the reason for this fire death, clearly the victim was trapped and the fire moved very quickly upon her. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and others who are suffering from the loss of this lady.”

At this time the investigation is active and no other information is available.
