Hammond Police arrest one, look for two for armed robbery

Hammond, LA – On Friday, at approximately 7:43 pm, the Hammond Police Department responded to an armed robbery at His & Hers Urban Wear located at 2224 West Thomas Street.

Three suspects entered the store and began to try on merchandise. They placed several items on the counter, and then two of suspects grabbed the items and ran from the store. The owner was able to grab the third suspect, resulting in a struggle, during which the suspect pulled a handgun from a black bag. The suspect broke free, took items from behind the counter, and fled the scene towards the Town & Country Plaza.

Quickly spreading throughout the area, HPD Officers found one suspect, Cedric May, 26 years old of Jayess, Mississippi, on Market Street. After detaining him, they began searching for the handgun and black bag and found them hidden inside Winn Dixie. May was booked into the Hammond City Jail on charges of Armed Robbery, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Schedule IV CDS, and Fugitive from Other Jurisdiction. The other two suspects fled the scene.
