Slidell’s Mistretta graduates from FBI National Academy
Slidell Police Department’s Captain Nicky Mistretta was among 257 law enforcement officers who recently graduated from the FBI National Academy Program in Quantico, Virginia.

The 274th session of the National Academy consisted of men and women from all 50 states. The class also included members of law enforcement agencies from the District of Columbia, 23 international countries, five military organizations and seven federal civilian organizations.

Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy Program, held at the FBI Academy, offers 11 weeks of advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training for selected officers having proven records as professionals within their agencies.

Captain Mistretta has been with the Slidell Police Department over 23 years. He started with Slidell Police in 1996 as part of the Patrol Division. Since then, Captain Mistretta has climbed through the ranks and has led the Internal Affairs Division as well as the Criminal Investigations Division. Throughout his career, Captain Mistretta has been a member of the Honor Guard, S.W.A.T. team, police academy instructor, polygraph examiner, dive team, a member of the DEA narcotics task force, and a member of the FBI cybercrime task force.
