Selders named 2018 Honorary Service Award winner
AMITE --- The public is invited to attend this year’s African American Honorary Service Award Ceremony, February 24 at 10 AM at Amite Branch Library.

For the past seven years, Tangi Library has offered programs and given out a service award as part of its African American Heritage Celebration that takes place from the observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday to the end of February.

“There are a number of students in our parish that are setting an example,” said Director Barry Bradford. “It’s very important for us at the library to recognize our young leaders.”

Nominations were submitted electronically through the library website and reviewed by a committee. Martha Vinyard six grade student, Gabrielle Selders, was selected as the 2018 Recipient of the African American Honorary Service Award because of her outstanding academic record, achievements in leadership roles, and participation in service organizations.

Tangipahoa Parish Library is proud to recognize Gabrielle with this deserving award, and invites all members of the community to attend a special ceremony in her honor.
