AMITE---The 19th Annual World Premiere of movies created by the Talented Theatre students at Amite and Sumner High Schools will be Thursday, January 25.

The premiere will be held in the Amite High Theatre. Showtime is 7 pm. The students will arrive via limos and a police escort. Admission is free.

Talented Theatre teacher Charley Vance said, "Each year the students develop the stories for three 20-minute movies."

The movie project has received five modest national awards. Over the years, the students in the program have created 57 movies.

This year, the drama "Hurt" contrasts the lives of six foster girls with the unhappiness of a wealthy student.

In the comedy "Obsession," a girl becomes obsessed with her friend's boyfriend. She kidnaps him but it all unravels.

"Valedictorian Wars" is a comedy about three students vying to be named valedictorian.

The movies are filmed and edited by Vivid Video of Holden. Adult actors include Donna Gay Anderson, Larry Gray, Ronda Powell, Roslyn Varnado, Wanda McElveen, Sharon London, Matty Ferraro, Jenny Ballard and Ray Gaspard.

Financing for the Talented Theatre Movie Project is supported in part by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council, and as administered by the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge.
