DOTD announces road work in St. Tammany this week

Traffic Updates from the Louisiana Department of Transportation:

I-12: US 190 to LA 59 (Additional Ramp Closure)
From Sunday, May 3, 2020, through Thursday, May 7, 2020, there will be alternating single lane closures on I-12 Westbound between US 190 (Mile Marker 63) to LA 59 (Mile Marker 66). These closures will be from the hours of 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM nightly, weather permitting. This is to allow the contractor to perform asphalt inlay operations.

One lane of traffic will remain open at all times.

There will be no vehicle restrictions, and emergency vehicles will have access on I-12. Motorists may encounter a slight delay during this time.

There will also be FULL ON-RAMP CLOSURES for I-12 Westbound of the LA 59 interchange nightly Monday, May 4, 2020, and Tuesday, May 5, 2020.

FULL OFF-RAMP CLOSURES for I-12 Westbound of the US 190 interchange (Exit 63B) will be on Thursday night, May 7, 2020, and Sunday night, May 10, 2020. Full ramp closures will be from hours of 8:00 PM to 2:00 AM nightly, weather permitting. These closures is to allow the contractor to perform asphalt inlay operations.

Detour Section

Motorists wishing to enter I-12 WB via LA 59 may take I-12 EB to LA 1088 and transition from EB off-ramp (Exit 68) to LA 1088 on-ramp back to I-12 WB.

Motorists traveling I-12 WB wishing to exit US 190 NB (Exit 63B) may take US 190 SB (Exit 63A) and transition to US 190 NB at Fairway Dr/Judge Tanner Blvd.


LA 21 (S. Tyler St.): 13th Ave. to US 190B (W. 21st Ave.)
There will be a temporary alternating single lane closures and moving operations on LA 21 (S Tyler St.), between 13th Ave. and US 190B (W 21st Ave.), on Sunday night, May 3, 2020, between the hours of 8:00 PM and 5:00 AM, weather permitting. This is to allow the Contractor to install permanent striping.

One lane will remain open at all times with flaggers directing through traffic; however, traffic will be slowed as the work progresses. Wide loads will not be accessible; however, emergency vehicles will have access.

Alternate Routes
-US 190 between I-12 and the Bogue Falaya River Bridge (Claiborne Hill)
-LA 1077 between I-12 and US 190


I-10 Lane Closures (Slidell)
From Sunday, May 3, 2020, through Saturday, May 16, 2020, there will be nightly alternating lane closures on I-10, both Eastbound and Westbound between I-10/I-12/I-59 interchange and the I-10 twin spans. These closures will be from the hours of 7:00 PM – 5:00 AM nightly, weather permitting. This is for crews to continue asphalt paving operations on I-10 in Slidell.

One lane of traffic will remain open at all times.

Please expect rolling roadblock operations both Eastbound and Westbound for the mobilization and demobilization of construction equipment from midnight to 4:00 AM nightly.

There will be no vehicle restrictions, and emergency vehicles will have access on I-10. Motorists may encounter a slight delay during this time.


I-10 Median Protection: Oak Harbor Light/Ramp
From Sunday, May 3, 2020, through Saturday, May 16, 2020, there will be alternating single lane closures in both directions of Oak Harbor Blvd. between the I-10 Eastbound and Westbound on/off ramps. These closures will be from the hours of 7:00 PM – 5:00 AM nightly, weather permitting. This is for crews to continue asphalt paving operations. One lane of traffic will remain open at all times.

There will also be nightly RAMP CLOSURES for the Eastbound and Westbound on/off ramps of the Oak Harbor Interchange.

Full ramp closures will be from hours of 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM nightly.

Crews will be continuing asphalt paving operations at the Oak Harbor Blvd. interchange, weather permitting.

Motorists may encounter a slight delay during this time.

DETOUR SECTION

Motorists traveling I-10 WB wishing to exit Oak Harbor Blvd may take I-10 WB to LA 433 (Old Spanish Trail) westbound. Transition from LA 433 WB to US 11 SB to Oak Harbor Blvd.

Motorist traveling I-10 EB wishing to exit Oak Harbor Blvd may take I-10 EB to LA 433 (Old Spanish Trail) and transition from the EB off-ramp to the I-10 WB on-ramp back to Oak Harbor Blvd.


Lane Closure: LA 41 (Dump Road-LA 435)
There will be daily intermittent lane closures of the northbound or southbound lane on LA 41 between Dump Road and LA 435 Monday morning, May 4, 2020, at 7:00 AM through Monday morning, May 18, 2020, at 7:00 AM. The contractor plans to start patching and milling the roadway, weather permitting. One lane will be open at all times.

Permit/Detour Section
Oversize loads over 10 feet wide are not allowed. Emergency vehicles will have access.

Motorists traveling northbound may use alternate routes such as LA 41 at Dump Road, south to LA 36, west on LA 36 to the roundabout in Abita Springs, north on LA 435 to LA 41.

Motorists traveling southbound may use alternate routes such as LA 41 to LA 435, south on LA 435 to LA 36 to the roundabout in Abita Springs, east on LA 36 to LA 41, north on LA 41 to Dump Road.


LA 40 Techefuncte River Bridge
Beginning Monday, May 4, 2020, through Sunday, May 17, 2020, there will be a 24/7 single lane closure that will affect both Eastbound and Westbound traffic of LA 40. This is a long-term, temporary, traffic configuration, and traffic will be maintained by a temporary traffic signal. This closure is for crews to remove part of existing bridge and construct a portion of new bridge.

One lane will remain open in one direction at all times. Wide loads are still not permitted through this area at this time. There will be no other vehicle restrictions, and emergency vehicles will have access. Motorists may encounter a slight delay during this time.
