Baton Rouge
– Shortly before 6:00 pm on December 29, 2014, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two vehicle crash that occurred on O’Neal Ln. north of I-12 in East Baton Rouge Parish. The crash seriously injured 39 year old Denham Springs Police Officer James E. Foster, Jr. of Denham Springs.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Foster (who was responding to a crash on I-12 near Denham Springs) was riding a fully marked 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on O’Neal Ln. At the same time, 78 year old Janet B. Guedry of Baton Rouge was driving a 2008 Honda Accord northbound on O’Neal Ln. Guedry was in the center turn lane and was attempting to turn left across the southbound lanes of O’Neal Ln. to travel westbound on Riverdale Avenue E. As Guedry turned across the southbound lanes, Foster’s Harley Davidson struck the Honda.

Foster suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash. He was transported from the scene to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge. He was wearing a safety helmet. Guedry was properly restrained and was uninjured in the crash. Impairment is not suspected on the part of either Guedry or Foster. Guedry was cited for LRS 32:122 – Failure to yield turning left at an intersection. This crash remains under investigation.
